THE SISTERS OF HERMANAS FORREAL
M O N I C A
Monica is the oldest sister, a wife and mother of 1, who loves hanging out with friends and her sisters, always looking for an excuse to travel and stay with them. As a Clinical Herbalist, she learned that herbs could be used to make non-toxic products and she realized how important it was to share this knowledge with her family and friends or anyone who would listen. Her first product was a simple healing salve that helped bruises, cuts, and pimples heal faster than usual. She started giving this salve to her friends and family and found that they kept asking for it because it was really helping them. It has been her dream while attending herbal school to create a business with her sisters that could be a fun adventure and legacy to leave behind for future family members to carry on, so she met with her sisters and they decided to create the business with the salve and their Mexican heritage as the inspiration. Her passion for holistic health keeps her on a mission to let people know that they have choices about what they put in and on their body to live a healthier life.

Tribute to Juana Rufina
This tribute is to honor Juana Rufina, Lety’s mother-in-law, who passed this year in 2019. She grew up on patch of fertile land in Mexico, where fruit trees and coffee grew. She also had some chickens who laid fresh eggs and had a pig named Camelia. She shared many Mexican traditions and food recipes with Lety. As part of the Hermanas ForReal product line, Lety wanted to honor her memory with body misters that reminded her of Juana Rufina. The following products are in honor of her memory:
Lavando En El Rio
Juana Rufina recounted memories of herself to Lety, as a little girl, washing her clothes in the river near her home in Mexico. Our Lavando En El Rio mister brings back the nostalgia of that fresh scent of clean laundry hanging in the sun to dry.
Huele De Noche
Lety has one of these plants in her yard and when Juana Rufina would come to visit, she and Lety would sit by the Huele De Noche plant at night, drinking coffee, taking in the aroma of the flowers that bloom in the Fall. This was one of Juana Rufina’s favorite scents. Our Huele De Noche mister revives this memory of sitting by this beautiful plant, enjoying the aroma of the flowers that bloom at night.
Arroz Con Leche
Lety’s husband shared the story of how Juana Rufina made this special rice pudding on Dia De Los Muertos and other holidays and described how she cooked it for hours, stirring and watching that it did not burn. Our Arroz con Leche mister brings back those aromas of cinnamon and vanilla wafting in the air while the pudding cooked.
